Integrated Planning of Timber Extraction and Hauling Activities by using Network 2000 Program

Planning of forest transportation is a complex problem that requires effective and harmonious design implementation various operations including extraction, loading, hauling products. These constitute significant part the total cost producing products; therefore, developing most appropriate (minimum cost/maximum net profit) plan has increasing importance for economic aspect. Computer-aided models can be used to products systematically searching suitable solution. In this study, network analysis-based Network 2000 program was determine optimum routes with minimum operation costs maximum profit considering two logging truck types (medium large size). solution process, farm tractors (4x2 4x4) extraction loaders (tracked rubber-tired) loading were evaluated. The alternative determined using program. study implemented in Kınık Forest Enterprise Chief (FEC) located city Bursa Turkey, while five landing areas where (i.e. log, mine poles, industrial wood, paper wood) extracted from six harvesting units hauled depots. searched scenarios only depot which commonly FEC considered first scenario neighboring enterprise region also evaluated second scenario. results obtained indicated large-size tractor reduced by 8% led over 1000 TRY reduction operations. about 16% 2% less than case truck. On other hand, received 35000 more skidding successfully selected terrain conditions unit availability equipment. Likewise, loader distribution on areas.
